Interview with Nathan Fillion on the Castle Season 4 Premier, which airs on Monday. That there are a few mild spoilers is a bit of a given, the first one they let slip makes me happy (and would probably make Becca happy, too. :) ). Less excited about the second one they hint at, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose, and to make up for it, the Halloween episodes sounds like it could turn out to be another kick-ass episode like the first one was.

some tiny Castle spoilers )

In other news, I am home sweet home for the time being. Trip across country was blessedly uneventful aside from the general "whee, we're going on a road trip!" excitement. Weather got kinda iffy on Monday night, so we ended up driving all day in order to get back to Manda's place at least before a nasty winter storm rolled in. I spent the night on her couch, and then I managed to sneak the rest of the way home in the very brief clear corridor between two storm systems and made it to my parents place about an hour or before it started sleeting and the worst of the two storms hit. And *then* I got to stand on the porch and experience thunder sleet! So hurray for home and rare weather phenomena!

* Thanks everyone with the AAA stories! They have been super helpful, and I will totally be Hittin' That before I leave.

* Saturday I went on a mad cleaning spree the likes of which my little room probably won't see again until I get everything cleaned out of there and packed up for the trip back to the midwest. I vacuumed and did laundry and washed my sheets and I even *dusted*! And *then* I went and cleaned the bathroom. I know, I must've been possessed by a 50s housewife or something.

* Sunday I spent most of the day reading and marathoning ABC Family (caught the end of... something... before they showed Princess Diaries 2, and after that, Goonies) before doing the movie thing at a friends place later in the evening. Mostly finished The High Kings Tomb (third in Kristen Britain's Green Rider series) and now I must wait TWO WHOLE WEEKS before Blackveil (fourth in the series) comes out. I have it on pre-order and it is set to arrive on my birthday, so Happy Birthday To Me. Just, you know, sucks having to wait TWO WHOLE WEEKS for it.

* Monday involved more movie and TV watching and reading. I also got groceries, and after I finished High Kings Tomb, I decided a trashy murder mystery might be just the thing to tide me over until I get my hot little hands on Blackveil. Went to Barnes and Nobel in search of the latest Castle book (because I am still computerless and cannot download it onto my Kindle for PC like I did the first one) and did not find it, sadness. Got something co-written by Iris and Roy Johonson (sp?) instead because I've enjoyed the authors in the past.

Then when I returned to the house, book in hand, I decided "You know, I'm still more in a Nikki Heat sorta mood," and so I grabbed the first J. D. Robb mystery [ profile] wowomom convinced me to buy awhile back and started reading that instead. Three chapters in and I am totally "Wow, so now I know where the Castle/Nikki Heat writers get their inspiration from," because Eve Dallas is Nikki Heat, only slightly more world-worn and, you know, from the future and stuff. In fact, the two are so much alike that Kate Beckett keeps trying to take over as the visual representation of Eve Dallas in my head.

... and now the two are getting into a bitch fight. I am amused.

ANYWAY, that was my weekend. Productive and all together lazy, all at the same time. :D

Castle has sadly become slightly less awesome this season and the banter has suffered, and I hate to say it, but I kind of miss first and second season's UST because it was *fun* and it was *cute*. Now they have decided to push the love angle more and the adorableness and UST less, and woe, the banter suffers.

However, I do still watch, and I do still enjoy the show, just not as much as I used to.

That said, a few spoilers on last night's episode )

It is not the Castle I loved and mooned over the last first two seasons, but I suppose all good things must come to an end, and so far I'm okay enough with the new version.

Watching last night's Castle. Esposito and Ryan might possibly be one of the most adorable yet awesomely bad-ass partnerships since Gibbs and Tony in the earlier seasons of NCIS.

some spoilers, big and small )

Unlike some of my eastern brethren (sisteren?), I did actually get Castle tonight! And it was good!

No spoilers, but that last scene between Castle and Beckett might be one of the most adorable things ever. ::smishes them:: Well, until the next adorable scene they have. They do a lot of adorable, don't they?

Some non-spoiler observations: Beckett and Lanie's hair? YES PLEASE!

small spoiler on last night's Castle )

In other news, the computers at work are now functioning again! Yay! I can actually do my job rather than sit around being bored! Actually accomplished quite a bit - finished three maps and started another one. Hurrah.

OMG, IT IS STORMING! YAY YAY YAY! (as of 8:20ish - my internet died before I could post)

ETA 10:09 - Also, I really liked whatever the song that was playing at the end of the episode. Will totally have to look into the soundtrack if there is one out for season 2 yet.

A few spoilers on last night's Castle; 2x21 - Den of Thieves )

In other news, I left for the GIS class thingy at around 6:45 this morning and didn't get back until about 5:45 this evening. It made for a kind of long work day (10 hours - we got an hour for lunch), but I figure the more hours I can make up, the more "vacation" time I can take off.

I am totally loving this song the last few weeks, even if I have no clue what it is trying to say beyond the awesomeness of fireflies.

Fireflies )

Also, this might be old news to a few of you, but Castle has been renewed for a 3rd season! \o/ Must be some sort of record for Nathan Fillion - three consecutive seasons on one show! I think the last time that happened was when he was a semi-regular on Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place back in the late 90s.

Just finished watching this weeks episode of Castle. I might have a new second favorite (Halloween episode still ranks number 1), even if I knew who the bad guy was as soon as I saw them.

few spoilers )

And thats pretty much all, actually. My life, so exciting.

Slowly working my way through the 2009 Yuletide stories. Hopefully with the new archive and easier to find fandoms, it won't take me almost a year to get through it all.

Yuletide fic recs, numero uno )

Knowing me, though, and my tendency to be very easily distracted by something else new and shiny, that isn't a bet I would take.

Context is Everything by lokeis_pen. Adorable Castle and Beckett story that puts the "fluff" in "fluffy". Castle questions his new nickname.

Alrighty, I have at least another half dozen stories in my "fic recs" folder, but I'll save those for another time. Mostly because I am lazy, but also because I want to shower soonish.

just a few mostly non-spoilery comments on Castle )

There was more, but those are the only ones I can remember off the top of my head.

In other news, I splurged a bit today cause I got a refund check from Family Heath (I've been switched to Badger Care, so they were reimbursing me for the two months I made payments when I didn't actually have to). Went to ShopKo and got a new button up shirt (mens medium, one of those snazzy ones with a cool screen image stamped on them that was on sale for $4.40), a pair of snowflake earrings (also on sale - $5.99 down from $9.99), a new toothbrush and Rush Hour 1 and 2 (all of which were also on sale; yay saving!). Ended up spending 27 or so dollars, but had the stuff not been on sale, it would've cost me at least twice that, so go me. And now I have Rush Hour 1 and 2 to go with the copy of Rush Hour 3 I got last year. :)

Random TV Thought Of The Day - Castle speculation )

::considers locking this post so as to not give any Castle writers any ideas ala what happened multiple times with the Farscape Shippers List Spy back in the day::
rensong: (lesser species)
So, while I was wandering around some of my favorite fan fiction recommendations sites, first I discovered an adorable father/daughter Castle fic - Accomplices by Lokei - and then I discovered that ABC is actually posting a chapter a week of Castle's newest mystery novel, Heat Wave, as further promotions for the show. Seven chapters up so far, none of which I have read, but which is none the less extremely awesome and I will probably be reading them soon.
rensong: (not so far away)
I went looking for fic. No real fandom in mind, just typed "fic recs" into Google and see what came up. The first page listed was Recs Rainbow, and through various methods and link-hopping, I ran across The Thing About Mornings, an incredible Castle story by [ profile] fialka. It is short, and it is painful, but it is so very worth it.

Man, I miss Castle. Is it September yet?

ETA March 7, 2010 - there is a sequel as of September 2009.
rensong: (sleepy kitty)
In a fit of boredom, I watched the first episode of Castle online. I wasn't trying to avoid it or anything, but I was hoping to get a few more episodes on the air before I started watching cause then I wouldn't have to wait an entire week to see them, but nothing is on broadcast tonight (only channels I get) and I'm kind of tired of reading. I suppose I could've done some homework, but yeah, like that was going to happen (I know, I'm horrid. Bad Maren, no cookie for you).

Aaaanyway, I'm not going to say I'm impressed because it was pretty much what I expected - I was expecting something amusing and entertaining, and that's what it was. I really did enjoy it (like I expected), and I will probably keep watching for as long as they decide to air it. It is on ABC, so that means it has a slightly brighter future then it would on FOX. Still not sure if it has the balls to last, though. It conflicts with Medium on NBC and CSI Miami on CBS. Not sure about CSI Miami, but I know that Medium was pretty popular last year on NBC.

Who knows, though, with this wonderful world of Online Episodes, Castle might actually have a chance to finish an entire season. Maybe. One can hope, I suppose.
